A metal cutting shear was delivered within a tight schedule
Altek Service Oy that focuses on industrial maintenance services, delivered a turnkey project of a metal cutting shear to its customer.
The shear’s main dimensions were approximately 5 x 2 m and it became a part of the end customer’s continuous manufacturing process. Logistic was responsible for the raw material, welding and machining of the shear’s frame as well as other mechanised parts for the moving and the gripping mechanisms.
– An additional challenge in the project was the requirement to complete it during the worst holiday period of July and August, recounts Altek Service Oy’s project engineer Mika Kantonen.
As we progressed with the project, we realised that the drawings were missing some essential information required for manufacturing. Due to the holiday period it was decided that Logistic would finalise the drawings.
The result: a functioning shear within the agreed schedule.
Despite the tight deadline and the challenges in the design process, all parts required for assembly were finished by the beginning of August. Altek performed the final assembly and testing, after which it delivered the perfectly functional shear to the satisfied end customer.
– Collaboration with Logistic was absolutely fantastic, everything was completed within the confirmed schedule, and they used their own initiative to solve additional issues fast, Mika says.
